Exxopolis Luminarium – an amazing feature for the whole family to enjoy at Glow, Stonnington’s Winter Arts Festival

Exxopolis Luminarium is incredible.  It’s been created by the UK-based Architects of Air and has been brought to Melbourne by the Stonnington Council for its winter warming Glow Festival.  The sculpture’s expansive series of tunnels & domes took 4 months to make by hand in Nottingham, England, requiring 3,000 m² of plastic and spanning half a football field.  It’s traveled the world, but for now – this gem is perched up on level 5 of Jam Factory’s rooftop carpark and open to the public from 12 – 9 pm until 24 August 2014..

Tickets are all $15 each and children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.  Children 5-years-old & under are free (though these tickets must be reserved via the box office line by calling 8290 7000).  Wheelchairs are permitted but if you have a baby like us, I doubt they’d let your pram in so strap them to you baby carrier style!  Something else that’s good to know beforehand is that no bags or shoes are allowed.  It’s only a 20 minute exhibit because places are limited for safety reasons as well as to allow everyone plenty of space to ogle, sit down or recline against the monument and enjoy the themed music by David Bickley.

Our 3-year-old had a wonderful time, as did we.
